A way of being curious.
Myconaut brings outdoor exploration, original photography and an enquiring mind into the same notebook.
The Myconaut Way
Exploration of the Great Outdoors is fundamental here. Going out puts thought in contact with a world that has its own priorities: a wall with centuries in it, a flower beside the impressive view, a country passage that turns out to deserve the pause.
Exspecta : Observa : Vide. The motto gives that attention a little space. Allow the first impression to settle, notice what interrupts it, and look again. There is usually more going on than the quickest description permits.
Real places. Original work.
The expedition journals grow from real journeys and the photographs made along the way. Historical claims are checked; memories belong to the person who was there. Imagination is welcome as a companion to observation. It need not apply for a counterfeit diary.
The writing favours conversational British English, scientific curiosity, philosophical observation and humour with its voice kept down. An ordinary place can sustain an extraordinary amount of attention. It may also sustain a mildly ridiculous comparison.
One growing website
Expeditions and photography are the first substantial entries. Nature and mycology, science, music and reflections have their places ready for original material. They share an approach, rather than an obligation to sound alike.
